I'm REALLY sorry for the godzilla size!!

The long awaited horse tutorial is finished!

Phew! :faints: That took a while! I think my hand is going to fall off. A few people had expressed an interest in how I draw my horses, so I made a tutorial. :D Happy Reading & drawing everyone! Any questions, don't be afraid to ask, I won't bite. ;)

Two sketching concpets from - 'How to Draw Horses' by Usborne and Scholastic & a 'How to Draw Spirit' book ( the actual pictures were drawn by me, I only got the idea from the books)

Four gait pictures - 'How to Draw Horses' by Usborne and Scholastic

All other art, images & text - Me, Lupi :)

You make the body too short, the necks too long and the hind quarters too low. Also the withers are way too high.

Other than that i love your style, it's very cute.(:

I added this tutorial to my 4Gallery! where I collect Linearts from Howrse players to create Black Pearl coats.
I added a link to this image and your DA name, I hope that is okay. You can find it here within the Folder "Tutorials" (Everybody can view and comment it!)

I've been drawing horses since I could hold a crayon, and I've found that: Yeah!
It does help to have horses living with you.
(outside in the pasture, of course! you nutty people...)
Great tutorial!
*omg I'm so lame....*

draw them like people hair: flowing and bouncing.
it gets easier as you do it.
P.S. don't make them longer than the length from their withers to the point of their shoulder.
usualy only Arabians and Friesians, along with the Paso Fino -or other fancy breeds- basically have manes longer than that.
Forelocks -the bangs up ontop of their heads- tend to fly back in two sections as the horse moves faster than a trot, or wind is blowing.
does this help at all?
*pardon my terrible lowercase habit*

Thanks a ton! This is just what I needed. My friend's been feeling really down lately, and I wanted to draw her something to make her feel better, and I figured I'd try a horse, but I have no idea how to draw them, so thanksies. ^^
